Glyn Davies, Conservative MP for Montgomeryshire, has joined the fight against breast cancer by taking part in Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear It Pink day.
Glyn joined other MPs in the House of Commons on Wednesday 10th September in support of Wear It Pink day, which takes place this year on Friday 24th October. The theme of this year’s day is to ‘look good, do good’ in support of breast cancer research. Wear It Pink day sees people across the country come together to wear pink at work, home, or at school, with donations being used to fund breast cancer research.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and accounts for nearly one in three of all cancers in women. In the UK, around 50,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year, equating to 138 a day. Breast Cancer Campaign funds innovative breast cancer research, bringing together the brightest minds to share knowledge to produce better, quicker results to overcome and outlive breast cancer.
Glyn Davies MP says:
“It is heart-breaking for any family to be affected by cancer. Every year in the UK, over 50,000 women and around 350 men are diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly 12,000 women and 80 men die from this disease each year.
“This is why we need to show support for charities such as Breast Cancer Campaign’s fundraising efforts to support world-class breast cancer research, giving people quicker diagnoses and more effective treatments.
“Wear It Pink day has quickly become a national annual event, and has played a key role in fundraising research and raising awareness of breast cancer. I hope everyone in Montgomeryshire will join me by wearing it pink on Friday 24th October, and show your support for breast cancer research.”
