The Conservatives have today launched their local manifesto for the people of Powys, becoming the only party in this year’s County Council elections to do so.
The manifesto, entitled ‘Your Money. Your Council. Your Voice.’, underlines the Conservatives’ strong commitment to Powys and its residents. Containing specific pledges, including a promise to freeze Council Tax in 2013, the document highlights the issue of Independent Councillors who the voters cannot hold to any manifesto.
Cllr Aled Davies, Joint Leader of the Conservatives in Powys, said “This manifesto shows that we are taking the people of Powys seriously. The LibDems and Independents have not offered local people a plan or any concrete promises. Our simple, clear pledges give Powys residents a real choice before casting their votes. The Conservatives are the only party who are being honest and upfront with the electorate and local people will appreciate this.”
Glyn Davies, Conservative MP for Montgomeryshire, added: “I’m pleased that the Conservatives are making clear what they want to do if they run the Council and I am particularly pleased that they will protect Powys residents from further Council Tax increases.”
